Robin was developed in 2019 with a Robotic Process Automation technology (RPA). Robin can manage administrative processes on his own, which are always carried out in the same way and where the same steps are repeated many times. Robin has been in official service for about a month.

– We see this as a way to give our employees more time for value-creating activities such as personal contact and service. The hope is to increase service to the residents, through faster handling and more space for personal service where required. And at the same time get more satisfied employees, says Hampus Månsson, digitization strategist.

Robin is currently working on tasks that include invoice management, accounting and preparation of reports. Robin also works with support grant applications, where Robin compiles the decision basis and a manager then makes the decision himself. The main thesis in Tomelilla Municipality’s digitization strategy is to find the simple solutions and allocate resources so that the citizen’s benefit is optimal and the work environment good. In automation, it is about getting systems to talk directly to each other without any human hands-on. In cases where this does not work, a robot can replace the human hand application. It’s called robotization.

The ambition is to relieve as many businesses as possible in order to provide even better service to the residents.

– We have a long-term work ahead of us to identify the processes and sub-processes that can be automated or robotized. Where this type of relief is effective, we will develop and “employ” more digital employees, says Hampus Månsson.
